Poetry - Paper Boats

 Summary:

In the poem "Paper Boats," a child spends each day floating paper boats down a stream, writing their name and the name of their village on each one, hoping that someone far away will find them. The child loads the boats with shiuli flowers from the garden, dreaming that the boats will carry them safely through the night. The child imagines that clouds in the sky are playmates racing with the boats. At night, they dream of the boats sailing under the stars, with fairies of sleep on board, carrying baskets full of dreams.

 About the Poet:

Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941) was a Bengali poet, philosopher, and artist, known for his profound and evocative poetry. He was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. Tagore’s works, like "Gitanjali," explore themes of nature, spirituality, and human emotions, blending simplicity with depth. His writing often reflects a childlike wonder and a deep connection to the world around him.
